I came across this wedding by accident on wedding planner Fiona Leahy’s website.

Soon as I saw the first picture I loved the decadent feel of this wedding reception. The first thing that caught my eye were the grapes in the centrepieces. I love the idea of fruit and flower displays. As well as grapes, the displays were made of fronds of Amaranthus (also know as love lies bleeding – what a great name!) and 4,000 roses.

Turns out these were photos from Marilyn Manson and Dita von Teese’s wedding in 2005. Its great when you see wedding reception and can clearly see the couple’s personalities shining through, which it clearly does here.

Dita von Teese’s wedding dress was an amazing Vivienne Westwood dress in royal purple silk taffeta with tri-corn hat designed by Stephen Jones.

Beautiful wedding cake too.

And I would like to steal these goblets for my own wedding…

When I’ve been getting dressed to go to a wedding, I’ve often stressed over whether its OK to wear black or not so I love this quote from Dita von Teese:

“Everybody asks me, ‘Can I wear black? I said: ‘Of course you can wear black. Whose wedding do you think you’re going to?”

It’s been difficult to explain the third colour in our colour scheme: not quite pink, not quite red, not really purple. We’ve tended to call it magenta. Walking into a accessories shop to buy something for a friends wedding I found a flower headband thats exactly the colour we’ve been trying to describe! So I bought it so when people ask what about our wedding colours instead of ummm-ing and er-ing I can just show them the flower

Its the colour we plan to use as a highlight in bridesmaids flowers and table centrepieces.

Great idea from Rachel Ray’s webisite;

There’s no reason to hide your mismatched stemware in the back of the cabinet anymore! With just a few flips of the glass, designer Annie Selke—owner of home furnishings company Pine Cone Hill (pineconehill.com)—created a modern candle-and-flower arrangement that we’re just crazy about for an outdoor warm-weather wedding. Her idea: Place your goblets upside down on a table, tuck large blooms underneath and top with colorful votives. It may only take a few seconds to pull together, but the elegant impact will last all night.

The world’s most famous flower show comes to London for the next week.

This seems like a great time to talk about wedding flower arrangements and get some inspiration from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

I came across this photo of preparations being made to the gardens shortly before the show opened. Here a gardener arranges radishes at the Jersey Farmers Union vegetable garden.

I can just imagine these radish globes being hung on some beams above the dining tables of a farmhouse wedding.

Vegetables and flowers, and fruit and flowers seem an unlikely combination but work amazingly well together. They can lend a centrepiece a feeling of abundance and plenty. It reminds me of those baroque paintings you see lurking in gloomy gallery corners.

Think a harvest festival and huge merry celebrations full of wine, dancing and loads and loads of glorious food.

Fruits and vegetables have such beautiful colours easily rivalling flowers in diversity and vividness.

Ariella Chezar, who created the above centrepiece for Martha Stewart Weddings, leaves fruit on the vines or branches, arranging them so they arch alluringly.

You can match colours to the colour scheme of your wedding and pick certain fruit for seasonality. Say lemons for spring.

I particularly like the look of peaches and plums as I adore the deep pinks and purples.

And remember…don’t forget your vegetables!
